Marina Manager Brian Knight

Born and raised in the Boca Grande area, Brian has deep roots in the community; both sides of his family have resided in the area for more than seven generations and his father and grandfather worked in the local marine industry. For more than 40 years Brian’s grandfather, John Knight, owned and managed the Knight Brother’s Marina, which is now The Inn Marina. At that time, the marina was a working boatyard where custom boats up to 48′ were built. Many of these boats continue to be enjoyed by private owners and local fishing captains in the waters surrounding Gasparilla Island today. The legendary anchor on display at The Inn Marina was recovered from the Boca Grande pass by John Knight in the early 1980s, and has been the landmark symbol of the marina ever since.

Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, Brian joined The Gasparilla Inn & Club as manager of The Inn Marina in the fall of 2006. Brian spent 15 years working for Mercury, and has had his 100 Ton Master Captain’s license for more than two decades. In addition to having a vast knowledge of the local waterways, Brian is a NAUI Dive instructor and enjoys sharing his experience and skills with boaters and fishermen alike.

Sport Fishing

Boca Grande has long been known as “the tarpon fishing capital of the world.” This great sport fish runs seasonally in the Boca Grande Pass from May to July. Other sport fish also populate the area year-round to the delight of both avid and novice fishermen. Backwater fishing provides anglers opportunities to land snook, grouper, and other sport fish during their stay. Full fishing charter and guide services are available.

For more information on charter fishing opportunities, please call The Inn’s Concierge Desk at 855-200-3250.
